Abstract

This paper deals with the significations thirty women in the process of literacy have given to school. It is the result of a research based on the Social Imaginary theory as well as on the Complexity theory. It is a re-presentation of multiple meanings which have already been socially accepted and refer to the instrumental role of a school, besides including the produccion of other meanings, not openly accepted, in the areas of Arts, passion, dreams, self-confidence, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationship. As a whole, they make school a worthy place.
