Abstract

Given the lack of attention given to maintenance activities, this article aims to
analyze how the management of maintenance activities contributes to the useful
life of residential buildings. For this, a systematic literature review was carried out
in order to discuss building maintenance and the durability of buildings. From the
selected studies, a bibliometric analysis was presented, along with the content
analysis of the obtained articles. The results showed that the proper planning
of maintenance activities is essential to ensure the durability and fulfillment of
the useful life of the buildings. It is intended, with this research, to emphasize
the importance of carrying out maintenance activities, especially with regard to
preventive maintenance, so that the expected level of performance for the building
can be reached.
