Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal.
  • The contribution is part of the so-called current theme of the Journal.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format.
  • URLs for referrals were provided when possible.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Author Guidelines, on the About the Magazine page.

Registration in the system and subsequent access, through login and password, are mandatory for the submission of works, as well as for monitoring the ongoing editorial process.

First step

Register at: https://periodicos.ufpel.edu.br/ojs2/index.php/pixo/user/register, checking the option “Author: you can submit to the journal”.

The author must submit 3 separate files (Components Section): 1. Text of the article - the text must contain the following data about (the) author(s): name, highest academic training, position(s), institution or institutions to which it is linked, summarized curriculum (maximum 100 words); 2. Article text without identification - the text must be without indication of authorship for peer review; and 3. Images - the images in a compressed file (*.zip or *.rar).

Paper Presentation Formats

For articles and essays - The text must be recorded in RTF (Rich Text Format) or in MicrosoftWord format, as long as it does not exceed 6MB. They must be typed in Word 7.0 (or higher), font ARIAL, text size 11, captions and footnotes size 9. Use italics instead of underlining. A maximum of 10 images (photographs, tables, graphs, etc.) scanned at full size with 72 DPI resolution, RGB color mode and saved in a standard JPEG file. All images must be accompanied by titles or captions and image font, with up to 150 characters. Page A4. All paragraphs must start in column 1, without tabs. Size

The maximum length of the material sent will be as follows: articles and essays, at least 10 (ten) pages and at most 25 (twenty-five) pages; interviews and reviews, at least 5 (five) pages and at most 10 (ten) pages and; white wall and projects and processes, up to 10 (ten) pages 5 (five) to 10 (ten) images and text with a maximum of 500 (five hundred) words.

Title

The title must be brief and sufficiently specific and descriptive, it must be right aligned and in bold. The title must be in capital letters and the subtitle, if any, must capitalize only the initial of the first word.

Abstract

The abstract must contain a maximum of 150 words and, on the back line, the keywords. Arial font, size 11, single space. It is suggested from 3 to 5 words, lower case, with the exception of specific terms, separated by commas.

Resumo

The title of the article in Portuguese and the Resumo must contain a maximum of 150 words separated by a space o Keywords. Arial font, size 11, single space. It is suggested from 3 to 5 palavras-chave, lower case, with the exception of specific terms, separated by commas.

Thanks

If the work has financial support from any institution, this should be mentioned at the end of the article.

Grades

Numerical notes should appear at the bottom of the corresponding page. Arial font, regular, size 09.

Appendices

Appendices may be used for extensive listings, statistics and other supporting elements.

Figures and tables

If the illustrations submitted have already been published, mention the source. Works that have been consulted and mentioned in the text are the responsibility of the author. Illustrations (engravings, graphs and drawings) and tables must be inserted in the body of the text. Subtitles must not exceed 150 characters. A maximum of 10 images (photographs, tables, graphs, etc.).

Articles and Essays

Section composed of articles and essays submitted based on the theme of each edition, resulting from research and studies relevant to the degree of maturity and rigor of national and international contributions, observing the plurality of areas and subareas of interest of the Journal.

White Wall

Section characterized by flexible content, which can address: experimentation and reflections on the field of architecture and urbanism through the presentation of brief literary texts, poems, drawings, photographs, or even, taking advantage of the possibilities of the electronic platform of the Journal .

Interviews

Interview whose content and interviewee are exemplary for the debate on architecture, city and contemporaneity.

Reviews

Section for book reviews and critical readings of theses and dissertations recently defended in the area, prepared by specialists and/or members of examining boards.

Articles and Essays

Section composed by the exhibition of projects and processes, that are of prominence and relevance for the call of the Journal, accompanied by theoretical and critical analysis.

Guest Author

Guest Author whose contribution is exemplary to the debate on architecture, the city and contemporaneity.

Editorial

It presents the objectives of the issue and the theme, the main issues addressed, the composition of articles and published works, as well as issues present in society and in the academic world directly related to the areas of the journal.

Translations

Translations of articles, essays and various texts will be accepted that address subjects belonging to and of fundamental importance to the thematic call of the journal.

Privacy Statement

The names and addresses informed in this magazine will be used exclusively for the services provided by this publication, not being made available for other purposes or to third parties. The PIXO Journal may send to your email communications about its events and other initiatives.
