THE CRISIS IN THE LEGITIMACY OF LIBERAL DEMOCRACY AND THE SEARCH FOR JUSTICE IN A PLURAL SOCIETY
Abstract
In face of difficulty of Liberal Democracies solve their own domestic demands in a plural society, often aggravated by international issues, the representative and democratic institutions suffer from deterioration in their legitimacy. Therefore, citizens claim for fair and capable institutions to solve their problems. In this sense, it is necessary to understand how institutions behave and how the actors, linked to them, interact within the “field” with different amounts of different “capitals”. Due to the inefficiency of institutions in representing citizens, a process of delegitimization and "frying" of them begins, wthat generates the search for leaders linked to nationalist movements and against the "establishment", these who take advantage of the moment of fragility to bring and impose ideas, often outside the ideals of freedom, equality and justice. Yet, it is necessary to visit the contribution of some thinkers of the Theory of Justice in the search for fair and ideal principles to reformulate the institutions of Liberal Democracy, with the objective of making them more legitimate and representative towards their citizens in a plural and globalized society.
