MACABEA
THE PORTRAIT OF A MINORIZED NORTHEAST
Abstract
The present work intends to identify which similarities and/or differences in approaches on the rural exodus from the Northeast to the Southeast of Brazil in the 1960s are possible between the work A Hora da Estrela, by Clarice Lispector, and historical productions on the subject. The methodology consists of consultations in different theorists who approach the theory of Literature, dialectical materialism and the relationship between History and Literature. It is concluded that the work in question, despite having been written in 1970, deals with current theme, since even nowadays many Northeasterners leave to South and Southeast regions in order to improve their lives, but, when they reach their destination, in most of the time, they are harassed and are at the mercy of a capitalist social organization, that stigmatizes and marginalizes them.
