CACEROLAZOS NA ARGENTINA
A COBERTURA MIDIÁTICA QUE DESAFIA A TEORIA
Abstract
This article analyzes the coverage of the Argentine corporate media, represented by the country's largest newspaper, Clarín, on the most relevant events of the Cacerolazos cycle (antigovernment demonstrations) that took place between 2012 and 2014. The Cacerolazos were a cycle of protests who mobilized mainly to the urban middle classes in rejection to the government of Cristina Fernandez, but that did not present a central tariff that would enable a response of the government. The 8N, known as the most important protest of the cycle, to be held on November 8 (2012), mobilized more close to one million people throughout the country and simultaneous protests took place in several parts of the world. The novelty for the scenario of the Argentine social movements was the organization of events mainly on social networks (Facebook) without the official presence of organizational structures, such as political parties or trade unions, typically the largest articulators of mobilizations in the country.
