REFLEXÕES À LUZ DA SOCIOLOGIA ECONÔMICA
Abstract
The present work propose an introduction to the study of the blockchain technology following the Economic Sociology framework, aiming to project the possible impacts produced by this new tool on the trust relationships between individuals, mainly those established through the internet. In this way, we define blockchain as a virtual distributed ledger shared by its users, serving as a public repository of information, characterized for its incorruptibility and irreversibility, acting as a medium for the circulation of decentralized currency, availability of smart contracts and for the creation of new mechanisms of
governance. We understand the potential of this tool is directly related to situations where typically there was an intermediary agent to secure the authenticity of transactions in general. Therefore, by investigating the economic practices of agents and institutions from the economic field, we aind to comprehend the subjective logic of blockchain's functioning, focusing on its social construction with the objective to project the future consequences caused by blockchain in the future of the economy.
