BETWEEN RESEARCH AND TEACHING AT THE UNIVERSITY
Abstract
This article is the result of a project that analysed the relation between research and teaching in the academic institutional space. The logic of this relation is analysed based on the concept of memory. The dialectic relation between teaching and social systems can only be figured in reference to the political system, and that implies analysing the teaching and research pathway under a reflexive sociology. The classroom is seen as a micro space where the social interaction between student and teacher develops. The result of this interaction must be seen in the production of academic papers and books. The teacher is inserted in an institution and his speech and writing are in connection with the social production conditions. The management of the time of speaking and of the time of writing must be understood within the institutional space, and not as personal time. It is the institution that dictates the teachers‟ time, and this regulation of work is exercised with more and more pressure over time. The interest over production must be institutional and not only personal.
