O TWITTER COMO REPRESENTAÇÃO DA SOCIEDADE PÓS-TRADICIONAL

O CASO DO “CALA BOCA GALVÃO”

Abstract

This paper shows the potential for radicalization of modernity through the episode known as "Cala Boca Galvão", initiated on Twitter. We establish a relationship between Twitter and post-traditional society, since both break with the past and tradition, addressing more the present and the future of the individual and requiring a series of choices that define our self. Twitter is approximate to Freud’s theory about dreams, where both have the reference to the past only in the form of disconnected fragments that are in need to be interpreted. It is made a definition of what is Twitter, its main characteristics, its uses and merits relative to other Internet tools. Then, there is the definition of what is post-traditional society, as Anthony Giddens. Further, we approach Giddens’ theory with Freud's. The attempt is made to tailor the approaches to reading and the uses of Twitter, portraying it as a metaphor for post-traditional society, through the episode known as Cala Boca Galvão.
