O PROCESSO DE ARTE-EDUCAÇÃO PARA POPULARIZAÇÃO DA GEMOLOGIA PELO PROJETO DE EXTENSÃO GARIMPANDO A ARTE

Abstract

The extension project "Garimpando a Arte" started work in August 2016 by teachers together
with students of the Gemology course at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, with the aim
of promoting a reflective work of art education in the development of human potential, using
knowledge of Gemology, and the productive chain of gems and jewels, in a sustainable way. In
this work, we sought to develop a message with the participants through visual works; awakening
in the public their creative and imagination capacity; collectively work on ways to look at the
reality of Gemology and its potential; promote the empowerment of the knowledge community
on their creative potential in the development of their human skills; and knowing how to make
jewelry. The research carried out used observation for data collection. We sought to understand
what the perception of the participants in relation to Gemology. In the period from 2016 to 2019,
ten workshops were held, aimed at high school students from the public school system, aged
between 15 and 18 years, children assisted by a religious foundation, in addition to the outside
community. The institutions involved are in a metropolitan region of Greater Vitória in the
State of Espírito Santo. The actions totaled 342 participants. From the activities carried out, it is
concluded that the extension project “Garimpando a Arte” is an important tool to disseminate,
reflect and discuss teaching, research, and extension about Gemology.
