Abstract

The suspension of some activities in Primary Health Care as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic,

such as the HiperDia group, compromised the monitoring of patients with Arterial Hyperten-
sion and Diabetes Mellitus. This article aims to report an experience of a nursing student, from

a Federal University, in the planning and implementation of the resumption of the group with
patients with diabetes and/or hypertension, in Primary Health Care, after two years of pandemic.
Two interventions are reported: training of professionals from a Basic Health Unit on the theme
groups and resumption of the HiperDia group. The resumption of HiperDia was defined after
verifying that half of the people sought a unit, during the reception of spontaneous demands,
had Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) and/or Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and presented as a

demand the renewal of prescriptions or the worsening of the chronic condition. The qualifica-
tion of the team before the resumption of the groups was defined due to the identification of

limited understanding of the professionals about the theoretical assumptions of the realization
of groups. After completing the training, 94.7% of the professionals reported feeling safer for
group activities. As for the resumption of the Hiperdia group, the meetings were conducted with
the concern to guarantee space for the participants to speak, which allowed the exchange of
experiences among them and the report of some regarding the intention to change behaviors.
The two interventions favored the enrichment of the student's professional training, in addition
to having generated reflections in relation to the advances in the conduction of the groups in
Primary Health Care.
