Abstract

The Geosciences Study Group (GEOS) is a unified project of the Federal University of Pelotas

(UFPel), whose extension axis aims to disseminate and popularize the geosciences in the Brazi-
lian educational system, in accordance with the fourth objective of sustainable development

(quality education), present in the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (UN). Between 2020 and
2021, GEOS produced several educational videos aimed at students from the 3rd to 5th year of
elementary school, seeking to adapt to the remote format because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022, GEOS prepared a booklet with fundamental concepts
of geology, which integrates explanations and recreational activities related to didactic videos.
The objective of this work is to present the booklet entitled “Let's get to know our planet? –

Planet Earth in playful methodologies”, as well as its creative process. The booklet is compo-
sed of six topics “The Layers of the Earth”, “The Rock Cycle”, “Tectonics and Volcanoes”, “The

Fossils”, “The Poles” and “Climate Change”, which constitute a logical sequence, so that the
planet Earth is presented from its interior to its exterior. The integrated educational videos can
be accessed through QR Codes. The development of physical material, visually attractive to the
target audience and with multimedia content allows geoscientific concepts to be worked in the
classroom in a playful and recreational way, qualifying the learning process, according to one
of the main objectives of the UN 2030 agenda.
