Abstract

Access to quality and abundant water is unequal throughout the world. In Brazil, about 35
million people do not have access to drinking water, as an alternative, communities in water

vulnerability tend to seek other means of supply such as SAC's (collective alternative supply solu-
tions). In Divinópolis MG there are several SAC's whose water is used by the population for their

own consumption without proper knowledge of its microbiological quality, mostly located in
regions with different levels of environmental degradation. In this sense, the focus of this work
consisted of carrying out interventions in the urban SAC popularly known as Bela Vista mine,
whose water is often collected by the local population for their own consumption. The actions
involved periodic laboratory analyzes of the microbiological quality of water samples collected
from that source, survey of general macroscopic conditions, meetings with the community,
municipal authorities and communication vehicles with a view improving the condition found.
In an environment of dialogic interaction and seeking social transformation, ensuring healthy
life and well-being trousers, variation in the microbiological quality of the water was observed
throughout the evaluation period, predominantly bad classification of the observed macroscopic
condition, which supported a survey of propositions and reaching agreements with the local
public authorities with a view to fencing the spring, installing trash can sand raising awareness
among local residents about garbage disposal and animal transit.
