O CENÁRIO PECULIAR DE POÇOS DE CALDAS-MG
Abstract
In this work, we discuss the SDG-7 – Affordable and Clean Energy. We approach its goals and
indicators in the Brazilian scenario, and in the scenario of the city of Poços de Caldas - MG. Brazil
has good indicators, for example, 99.8% of the population has primary access to clean fuels
and technologies. However, warnings have emerged in recent years, such as the increase in the
share of thermoelectric plants in the national electricity matrix (from 13% in 2019 to 21% in 2021).
The municipality of Poços de Caldas, however, has a very favorable scenario when it comes to
Affordable and Clean Energy according to our survey. Almost 100% of the population has access
to electricity (99.8%); and its energy supply comes from renewable sources. This achievement is
due to the company DME Distribuição S/A is installed in the municipality, a holding company that
guarantees 100% of the electricity supply in the municipality. In order to guarantee the supply
of renewable and sustainable energy, the company continually invests in R&D projects with
educational institutions in the municipality. Emphasis is given to the electric mobility projects,
responsible for the first public and free charging station in Brazil located in the municipality of
Poços de Caldas.
