Abstract

Museum is a bridge between times, spaces, individuals, cultures, social groups and art where the demands and possibilities of presence within this space depends on external factors of symbolic and power dispute. Changing this scenario is a struggle of the black people and MABSul - Museu Afro Brasil Sul arises from the concern of a portion of the black population in the South of the country, about the representation of black people in the spaces of Museums. As there is a culture that has no history to be preserved and presented, a myriad of professionals came together in search of data, people, facts, stories that prove the struggle, resistance and preservation of black people in the region commonly designated as Southern Brazil, which covers the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. To achieve its goals, MABSul made use of tech- nological resources, allying itself with Museology, to together reflect on museological concepts in the anti-racist struggle in search of a less unequal society, implementing a virtual platform, using social networks as a strategy to present black people with a new story about old facts. This report presents the way in which professionals prepared, instrumented and arranged the platform on the Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel) website using the Tainacan plugin, a digital repository platform that stores data collected in empirical research. MABSul makes use of social networks with the intention of reaching the most remote places of this country and thus changing realities through anti-racist education. The result of this work in the fight against racism is engaging, as it presents positive data on how the internet, a network of global connections, can be an ally in the preservation of black memories, now valued in the space of the virtual museum.
