report from the extension course on conflict mediation, its multiple applications and perspectives

Abstract

The present paper is a report of the university extension course Atualidades sobre Mediação de Conflitos: Múltiplas Aplicações e Perspectivas, offered by Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro - Instituto Três Rios during the pandemic period, in the first semester of the year 2021. It addresses the theoretical basis, the institutional context, the methodology used for the development of the course, and evaluates the results achieved. Ultimately, the course was intended to contribute to the dissemination of a culture of mediation. The report may inspire similar initiatives in other institutions besides fostering the use of consensual forms of conflict resolution, as opposed to a well consolidated adversarial culture in the field of Law.
