ADOLESCENTS ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITY
aspects of their world of life
Abstract
This investigation originated in a reflective and dialogic experience which aimed at making a constructive social interaction emerge among teachers who teach adolescents in schools located on the outskirts of the city. The objective of this study is to find out who these adolescents are, regarding different aspects of their world of life. Therefore, we interviewed twelve eighth-graders, individually and collectively; hermeneutic procedures were used to analyze the interviews. The results were discussed in the light of studies that approach adolescence, violence, and the role of schools, thus allowing us to understand several issues concerning the cultural patterns of world interpretation, of values and rules involved in socialization processes, and of the construction of an adolescent's personality.
