EDUCATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THREE LIGHTS
Kant's illuminism, Adorno's and Horkheimer's enlightenment, and Martin Heidegger's light of being
Abstract
Largely used by the History of Philosophy, the notion of "light" appears as an important and fertile field to make us reflect on the phenomenon of education, besides other philosophical issues. By distinguishing between image and the concept of light, this paper aims at approaching the bases of Immanuel Kant's conception of "illuminism", Theodor Adorno's and Max Horkheimer's concept of "enlightenment", and Martin Heidegger's image-concept of "light of being". I attempt to show which educational views can be considered from the perspective of these three lights.
