Abstract

The article reports the results of research that aimed to study the representations that students and high school teachers develop about school. It can be seen that young people attribute the school an important role as a means to accomplish their life goals and expect, after finishing high school, join the labor market and higher education. However, most teachers believe that few of his students continue their studies in higher education. For the teachers your students go to school for duty, hobby, socializing, professional training and for that their families do not fail to receive government social programs. When we contrast the views of teachers and students surveyed, we note that the teachers are unbelievers and the students have hopes in the school to realize their dreams and achieve a better "status" in society.
