school experiences in the initial formation of Biology teachers
Abstract
This work aims to investigate the different kinds of knowledge and conceptions involved in the formation of the teacher identity, based on the interviews of four Biology graduating students about their school life histories, highlighting the importance of this resource for the teacher formation. On the interviews the students report their major positive influences received along their school trajectories and the how these ones contribute to the construction of their teacher image. They have also listed the difficulties experienced by them in their schools and the major expectations these institutions have failed to fulfill. The discussions of many of the issues present in these reports, at the same time unique and inserted in higher determinant structures, also represent an important instrument in the teacher formation.
