THE FACING OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS IN BRAZIL

Abstract
In the last two decades the phenomenon of sexual violence against children is presented worldwide and specifically in Brazil as a preoccupating social problem. The insertion of the debate about sexual violence against children and adolescents in Brazil occurred from the beginning of the concern about sexual exploitation of these chaps denounced in the beginning of 90`s, by institutions linked to childhood and youth. Researchers from different fields are working hard to turn this phenomenon theoretically recognizable, generating the increase of studies that show the necessity of public policies to face this phenomenon and particular policies aiming the qualification of school communities to take part in facing the sexual violence against children and adolescents. We conclude that in spite of the government efforts to face this kind of crime in the national territory the situation is presented as a serious social problem in Brazil. It`s taken into consideration that there is a budding participation of school in this context that demands a sound engagement of schools in the net of facing this kind of violence.
