space to domestication and government of contemporary childhood in Medellin
Abstract
Since beginning twentieth century Medellin suffer a set of transformations in a different social sections, cultural and material indicate the progressive step from “populace” to “modern city”. The childhood is “defamiliarized” and became a concern for government management; it’s mean, as a social question it takes part increasingly on political schedules and government, as population, it’s become target of “government” and “domestication” strategies. This papper aim to show how, in march of this strategies and it’s their social place, certain ways to be boys or girls (types of childhood experiences) become understood as more worthy and desired them others (street children) and how, besides that, this means that Medellin’s boys and girls are increasingly institutionalized, isolated and “pedagogizated”
