TEACHER APPRECIATION AND TEACHING CAREER IN THE CITY OF GUARULHOS
Abstract
This article presents the findings of a broader research entitled “Working conditions and class relations of teachers of the basic education network in the municipality of Guarulhos, SP”, carried out between 2013 and 2014. The research aim was to investigate aspects of the Teaching Career Plan of suck municipality; on GEPECSO (2014) data bank; and on interviews with six teachers of three schools chosen by their size and location. It was observed that the Career Plan was in accordance with the national legislation and the basic salary in 2015 was higher than the National Professional Salary Floor. However, there are issues in the Plan that have not been regulated yet, such as performance evaluation, which have delayed and hampered the improvement of salaries and working conditions of “guarulhense” teachers.
