Teacher empowerment and teacher self-efficacy are constructs from different theories that seek to understand how teachers feel capable of making changes in their school daily lives. The present systematized review of literature anylized the international scientific production, aiming to identify methodologies, instruments and associations between the two contepts. Web of Science, ERIC and SmartCat databases were used, considering the descriptors teacher empowerment and self-efficacy. Elegibility criteria were: the publication period (1996 to 2006), the use of the descriptors in the title and / or abstract and the avaliability of the full texts. The search resulted in 24 papers, of which 13 met the inclusion criteria. The analyzed studies indicated a positive correlation between the contructs, with predominance of quantitative studies. It was concluded that researh aiming to investigate the impacto f the constructs in the educational context is necessary, to consider the effects on the teaching in the classroom and in the school.
