Abstract

This article aims to put into perspective the songs Pra Não Dizer Que Não Falei Das Flores by Geraldo Vandré and Tropicália by Caetano Veloso, seeking to draw a comparison between the two songs, highlighting differences in aesthetics and form and the context in which the performers were inserted. In the first section of this text, important topics will be raised in relation to the observation of the objects of study and an overview of the field of cultural opposition to the civil-military dictatorship will be addressed. In the second section, the analysis of the two songs is carried out, putting in perspective the aesthetic and technical issues of each song with important debates already raised by other authors. In the last section, the final reflections punctuate a brief conclusion about the text and situate the established debate and the comparative possibilities between the two songs. In addition, we raise the question of the role of art and artists in the current Brazilian political scenario.
