Abstract

Cities can be examined from different perspectives. What we propose with this article is to find a path of investigation of the symbolic expressed in the city, from the context of the Duran’s imaginary. The images show what its inhabitants carry with them in the urban space and what constitutes it. The abstract concepts of cities are part of a larger and broader constitution, that is, that of creation from the imaginary of different social groups that interrelate over time and produce and represent the practices of interaction with urbanity. The examining perspective represented by the narratives of its inhabitants, projected in exercises analogous to those of oral history, serve to form the representation of the past and the present in the constitution, reconstitution and representation of the collective memory of urban spaces. The paths of the imaginary make it possible to experience creations oriented to the living of society in urbanity.
