SOCIAL CAPITAL AND MANAGEMENT: CASE STUDY OF THE ASSOCIATION OF ARTISANS OF CHITARTE IN CACHOEIRA - BAHIA

Abstract

This article addresses the social capital in the management of a group of artisans, through a case study at the Chitarte Artisanal Association of Cachoeira Bahia, located in the Recôncavo. Its general objective was to understand the effects of social capital on the management of a solidarity economy enterprise. The study was based on the collection of primary and secondary data, based on a qualitative approach. Interviews were conducted with the artisans and with members of the management advisory organizations developed in the enterprise. A set of information recorded in the group’s advisory process was also used. The analysis, based on different dimensions of social capital, revealed that Chitarte, with the work of advisory, has a trajectory of strengthening in the organizational process, evidencing the presence of social capital. The advances that have occurred can be associated with improved management, based on strengthening relationships of trust and solidarity between.
