Abstract
The article deals with the interesting relationship between school culture and some aspects of urban culture. The city of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, is the scenery and the scene. This relationship is analized by focusing the multiple relationship modes of the school institution-through its professionals and agents with the city, its inhabitants, its spaces and monuments. Special attention is given to the relationship between the processes of teaching and utilization of writing within the school and the modern representations and practices pertaining urban experiences and bodiliness.
