Abstract

This work presents a synthesis of results of an investigation on the new approach to professional competences, from the standpoint of Sociology and Education. The application of the professional competences’ model to the new modules of vocational education designed by LOGSE can be taken as the result of applying to the crisis of P.F. and job what Bernstein calls new invisible pedagogy. It is also in a tight connection with the new models of human resources management known as “competences engineering” or “competences management” whose implementation is sought by transnational consultancies and companies as new ways of professional socialization in order to face up the job crisis related to new economic conditions. In this approach, the concept of hireability is crucial as it implies a challenge to stability and a devilish mechanism which individualizes labor formation and relations, making workers responsible for their own labor situation and, finally, their jobs.
