Abstract
Our purpose in this article is to address some of the factors that facilitate children literacy. We put in evidence the importance of the quality of the social cultural environment created by the school as well the daily experience lived by children in acquisition of the written language. We stress the importance of the child's personal process ofconstruction of meaning and the crucial role of teacher, peers, and the family also play.
