Abstract

This research aims to identify in which way the strategies and organization patterns adopted by three public schools in Ribeirão Preto have influenced on daily occurrence of violent events. It has been studied two state schools and one municipal school which are situated in suburbs of the city. Those areas admit a high index of violence. It was used a qualitative approach based on ethnographic background and the analyze of documentation, active participation and observation during eleven months, interviews with directors, teachers, employees, parents and students were considered as instruments for this collection of datum’s. The results indicate a direct relation between the structure and organization patterns adopted by schools and the occurrence of violent events. Strategies as the preparation and integration of the staff, becoming link with the community and active participation show to be quite efficient towards this matter.
