Abstract

The following is a small number of ideas related to the consequences of feminisation, which we believe, have not yet been explored. They are not hypotheses that have beenformalised, operationalised, and submitted to proof by the facts. They are suggestions of hypotheses in gestational stage, emerged from anecdotal evidence or simply from deductions. Our objective, then, is not to present conclusions but rather to discuss some ideas in status nascens with and before a specialised audience, constituted by our colleagues in this cosy annual meeting and incomparable geographic landmark. Firstly, we will present some observations concerning the self-reproductory dynamics of feminisation; secondly, we will discuss the changes in the composition of the body of teachers in terms of gender and class; afterwards, the possible effects of feminisation on the school and professional opportunities of women (students); finally, its consequences related to the work opportunities of other women, the students’ mothers.
