THE ELEMENTARY TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MADISON
Innovations and contradictions
Abstract
This article discusses innovations and contradictions of a teacher education program at one of the most important universities in the United States. This analysis is based on both theoretical discussions in the specialized literature on this teacher education program and the author’s experience as a teacher educator in this program. Relationship between theory and practice in teacher education programs, partnership between the university and schools in this educational process, and the matter of research and teaching are some of the main issues highlighted through the analysis of this experience.
