THE ALTRUIST MOTIVATION IN PROFESSIONAL CHOICEIN ADOLESCENTS STUDENTS OF CONFESSIONALS SCHOOLS
Abstract
The altruism it’s a motivation valued in the religious context. The professional choice is one of the most difficult situation in the middle-class teenager’s life. This study verified what is the influence of the religious background in the middle-class teenager student of religious schools with emphasis in the religious teaching concerning professional’s choice and which careers these teenagers identified as an altruist motivation. The results indicated that the religion’s influence levels in the professional choice, is according to the students scarcely relevant. The professions most related to altruism were the medical career, whit great emphasis in Medicine. Among the reasons given for professional choice we can identify that the adolescents were between stage 2 and 3 of Krebs and Van Hesteren altruism development model.
