Abstract

This article describes and analyzes the capitalist restructuring process experienced in the last three decades of the twentieth century, from the perspective of the French School of Regulation, and the consequences of this process for changes that took place in the model of the Keynesian State. It also analyzes the implications of this crisis for the Brazilian reality and the proposals that were presented to face the crisis by means of a modernization project for the State. The changes in the educational policies carried out in the 1990’s in Brazil are analyzed taking into consideration the demands imposed by international relations and by the political, economic and social project that was undertaken by the coalition that elected president Fernando Henrique Cardoso.
