Abstract

The elective affinities between philosophy and literature are treated in this essay through some passages found in Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s writtings. The extension operated by the theoretician-artist between both genres, or in other words, between the intelligible and the sensible is linked with the notions of nature, culture and existence, reaching the specific educational field through the concept of “negative education”. These in turn are presented by a combination of marginal elements of reference that at the same time add a pictorial dimension to the text and illustrate certain writing technique that offer us as Rousseau’s readers an sensible and visual intellectual experience of the notions and concepts.
