THE AFRICAN ART AND ITS RELEVANCE FOR THE MULTICULTURAL AWARENESS
Abstract
The present article presents the results of a research for what it looked, from a quantitative and qualitative methodology, to collect data to check the validity of the teaching of African Art in the schools. This teaching was valued while favorable tool to help the students to develop a multicultural and critical conscience, in reply to several questions resulted from the ethnical diversity present in our society. For the research educational material on African Art and questionnaires in four meetings carried out with a group of 6th series of the basic teaching, of the Nossa Senhora Medianeira School – Pelotas – Rio Grande do Sul were applied. The answers to the questions of the questionnaires and some written justifications were to base of this study, what it allies the teaching of African Art and theoretical approach in search of a scientific justification for this practice.
