CAUSAL FACTORS AND PROPHYLAXIS OF THE DYSPHONIA IN TEACHING PRACTICES
Abstract
The dysphonia or popularly knowed as “hoarseness” is a prevalent symptom among teachers. It refers to diseases related to disturbance in the phonation. The etiology is multifactorial, and the main risk factors are associated to the inadequate work conditions or absence of capacitating to the voice professional use. Others risk factors, common in the general population to dysphonia, are the smoke and the alcohol. The basic prevention measures and an adequate treatment for the cases of vocal fold diseases have to be the most important objective in public health policies for this important occupational problem.
