TEACHERS’ AND STUDENTS’ VIEWPOINTS ON THE POSSIBILITIES OF CHANGE RESULTING FROM THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN SCHOOLS
Abstract
This paper describes the Salas de Leitura-Pólo, a program implemented in the public schools in Rio de Janeiro, RJ; it aims at producing readers who use different technological means, including the computer and the web. From this perspective, this research aims at a) analyzing the possibilities of pedagogical change in the teaching-learning process through the use of technological resources; and b) identifying the contribution of educational software to pedagogical practices in computer classes. In the students’ and teachers’ viewpoints, results show that there are changes in the learning process with the use of computers and the web and that educational software contributes to teachers’ practices, even though these teachers do not feel they are sufficiently prepared to use the technological resources.
