Abstract

Taking into account that violence is determined by several factors, this paper aims at focusing on stereotypes and prejudice in the school environment. We believe that they determine ways of acting in school: since they are one of the issues that constitute the environment, they may trigger violent situations whose actors are adolescents and youngsters. In school, this interaction with what is strange, in case it is not problematized, happens through interpersonal relationships full of conflicts, confrontation, and violence. Therefore, we aim at reflecting on differences, social prejudice, and violence regarding adolescents and youngsters in school. We have assumed that differences and stereotypes in school determine ways of acting while constituting the school environment as well.
