DISCUSSING EMANCIPATORY PROJECTS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PUBLIC UNIVERSITY IN BRAZIL
Abstract
The possibility of transforming the university’s pedagogical and political relations, including its social role in the context in which it is inserted, has been the object of studies and triggered actions and experiences. This movement is expressed in the outline of the Political and Pedagogical Projects (PPP’s) in Higher Education Institutions and may take on the emancipatory condition as a reference. The conditions of the national and the international scenery lead to rather strong possibility of participation and democratization. Based on Buarque, Marx, Freire, and Sousa Santos, we have analyzed the implementation of PPP’s in two Brazilian universities in different historical contexts. Having shown similar conceptual principles regarding their political acts, scarce experiences indicate there is the tension among the regulation forces and the emancipatory forces which characterize the universities.
