THE ETHNOGRAPHY OF THE EDUCATION, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL
Abstract
The present article outlines an intellectual path that begins with the anthropologists regarded as pioneers in the study of education, and continues up to today’s ethnography of education. It focuses on certain models of analysis and perspectives that, in my opinion, are still extremely valid theoretical and methodological references in the anthropological study of education. Finally, it concludes by considering that the ethnographic reading formulated from anthropology, because of its dual nature (auto-reflexive and interdisciplinary), may represent a major contribution for anyone interested in the issue of education.
