THEORY AND METHOD IN MICHEL FOUCAULT (IM)POSSIBILITIES
Abstract
The paper is about the relevance of using the concepts of method and theory over Michel Foucault’s thinking. A quick epistemological and methodological discussion is placed from a Wittgenstein piece and the character of this argument is to be non-representational, non-foundation and non- ssentialist. Two major tendencies are identified over such concepts: the first one is stricter or harder; the second one is broader or softer. The relevance or irrelevance of using both concepts in Foucault will always depend on the devotion to one of those tendencies. There is also a brief distinction between theory and theorization aiming to show the convenience of using theorization when working with Foucault oriented studies.
