Abstract

Taken as starting point the literary text “The thousand and one night, a classic work which expresses the crossing of the Islamic oral culture with the practice of the written representation and considered as one of the sources of the narratives which have inspired the European western soap opera, the present article discusses the narrative idea as salvation, rising related subjects to the act of story telling and to the breaking of a chronological conception of time. So, the narrative appears as a suspension of the time, starting from the pleasure of hearing and telling stories, once the action of narrating appears as a therapeutic possibility, in the way that it allows the attribution of new senses about the person himself/herself and about the world, which transform tellers and listeners/readers.
