Abstract

Our theme of analysis is a deaf person successful life story, given by his autobiographic testimony. As many other life stories, this one is about human qualities, as persistence, dedication, or an enormous will to bypass and win the obstacles. But, as we will find out in this case, during all the his life, and since a very earlier period, our “protagonist” has performed an attentive and permanent fight and vigilance, only possible to sustain when mobilizing an huge amount of effort and determination and, above all, giving up of some of his existential and citizenship rights. The proposed reflection around this testimony aims to emphasize some of these aspects and to ponder them, considering the situation of an expressive majority of many other deaf persons, who still don’t have access to an appropriate education according to their cultural and linguistic specificities, who cannot go to University, who cannot accede to a professional qualifying formation, who don’t have the right to a professional linking, to economic, social and affective independence, and a complete life as citizens.
