MUSIC EDUCATION IN INITIAL AND CONTINUED TEACHER EDUCATION
integrated projects at Music Education Laboratory - LEM - UFSM/RS
Abstract
This paper reports on the experiences of two projects in music education developed by the Music Education Laboratory at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (Laboratório de Educação Musical - LEM - CE/UFSM). The first, entitled Programa LEM: Tocar e Cantar (Music Education Lab Program: Play and Sing), is geared toward initial teacher education, and is carried out in an integrated fashion between students and professors [1] from the Pedagogy, Special Education and Music courses and consists of music workshops. The second, Programa SOM: formação, assessoria e orientação em música (Program SOM: education, advisory and orientation in music), is mainly aimed toward the continued education of schoolteachers working in the fundamental education system, and is organized in four lines of action: in-service teacher education; initial teacher education; educational concerts and advisory of groups and individuals involved in school bands.
