READING AND WRITING
Teaching For A Better Learning
Abstract
Reading and writing are activities initiated before the process of alphabetizing and developed during all the formal education period. From the first contacts with the world of letters, human beings start to build hypothesis about reading and writing that will be or won’t be confirmed in their literacy future experiences. On a first moment, reading and writing presuppose coding and decoding graphemes and phonemes. However, a fluent reading and writing activity requires a lot more than coding and decoding, it demands a conscious effort that involves different cognitive abilities. This paper approaches diverse reading and writing cognitive-linguistic aspects, phonological awareness and orthography, abilities that contribute to the formal teaching of reading and writing.
