SHAREVENTS. USING SHARED CRITICAL INCIDENTS REPORTS FOR TEACHERS’ TRAINING.

Abstract

In this article it is presented the results of a pilot study, “SharEVents”, based in the use of shared reports among teachers and pupils about the classroom climate and the critical incidents occurring within a university course. The hypothesis is that sharing the teacher’ and pupils’ representations about the events occurring at the classroom can provoke crucial changes in the instructional style especially in those events with a high emotional implication that can destabilize the teacher’s professional identity. Therefore the shared representations technique can be an ecologic, efficient and easy to implement system to train and evaluate the teacher’s classroom management skills. For this end an online tool was employed facilitating the creation of reports and their exchange among the teacher and pupils with the purpose of promoting their reflection on the others’ representations and the critical incidents. The preliminary results indicate that the shared report system has potential to generate crucial changes on the educational practice.
