Abstract

Facing a young society where values and ethical attitudes are being lost every day, the school tends to take more roles. Instruct, guide and train children and young people to live and work in a diverse world and constantly changing always been its main functions. However, these has been obscured by the different types of violence occurring there. In view of this problem,studies related to the subject are important to determine events and raise awareness of the school community, families and several entities. With this purpose it was developed the present study, which aims to analyze, through statistical data, the relationship between violence and social class in some schools of São Leopoldo, RS. The study sought to verify the impact of students victims of bullying and the perception of the community ahead of public safety. Data were collected from a questionnaire applied in pre-established groups of third year of high school from six schools in the city, including four public and two private. Two institutions were chosen by district, in different social classes (A, B and C). The analysis indicated that violence and prejudice suffered by students (bullying) are present in all schools in the network of public and private schools in the municipality, regardless of social class in which they are embedded.
