Abstract

This article is based on a research on Pinocchio’s life and it aims at emphasizing the initial ritual in the development of the self. This is a ritual that is directed at the transformation of the subject named (or not) Pinocchio and it has implications in his/her existence. This formation is made through the imagination Reason and makes it its leitmotiv and main pillar. This development is made by a metamorphose, a maturation of the world of life with which the subject establishes permanent dialogues of an initiate kind, even if these dialogues are not always on initiation. Therefore, education is the hermeneutics of the lived life, mediation between Reason and imagination, life as the master and the subject as its disciple. It is education considered Bildung that revalues the role of metaphors, symbols and myths and is sensitive to the life history of the learner. The author builds his article in three parts. The first one is directed at debating the “initiation and the initiation of death”. The second is about “the initiation metamorphoses of Pinocchio”. The third and last one stresses the meaning of the initiation pathway of the Adventures of Pinocchio according to the hermeneutics of the life lived. These three parts are devoted at stressing the remythologization of the educational approach, according to the educational imaginary. It emphasizes mainly the development of the ideal homo viator (Gabriel Marcel) and not so much the development of subjects sons of Frankenstein.
